Alpha 13 + Steam Next Fest


This update while not bringing any big changes still marks a major milestone in the development as it is the first wide scale demo of the game, which is featured on Steam’s Next Fest in addition to Itch.

This week’s focus development-wise was on fixing bugs, doing a few small improvements here and there, as well as implementing some of the Steam features like Achievements. So, not the most exciting but still needed stuff.
Also, while the game is planned to release on Steam, I’ll also keep it on itch and there will be no real differences between the Steam & Itch/non-Steam versions other than Steam’s features like Achievements and Cloud Saves, as well as separate leaderboards (Steam version doesn’t require you to input a name & submit the score ‘manually’ as it is integrated with Steam).

You can wishlist the game on Steam to help with the algorithms there.

List of changes

Audio

  • Added an audio feedback upon picking up XP.
  • Music breaks a bit more in between the waves.
  • Improved the priority of the different SFX. *So important ones won’t be skipped in case there’s too many sounds playing at the same time.
  • Fixed Ball Loss SFX not being played when you fail to catch a ball.

Miscellaneous

  • Inputs are blocked for half a second on Game Over to avoid accidental inputs in the menus afterwards.
  • Fixed Score Text’s Size not resetting properly under certain conditions.
  • Fixed Combo Ball’s Multiplier showing up incorrectly.
  • Fixed Balls not having any FX upon bouncing on the player.

Steam-specific Changes

  • Added 9 Basic Steam Achievements.
  • Added a few Steam Stats. They might be used in the future for further achievements and will give out data on the game’s balance.
